Veta L. Chapman's Obituary
Veta L. Chapman, age 87, of St. Clair, passed away July 13, 2021. She was born August 28, 1933 in Detroit to the late Hugh and Virginia Douthit. On April 18, 1952 Veta married Bernie Chapman. He preceded her in death in 2017.
Veta was a lifelong active member of the First United Methodist Church, St. Clair. Veta had many interests which included painting, basket weaving, baking and cake decorating. She also loved music and was an accomplished piano player. Her love of traveling with Bernie and the family has left lasting memories with her children and grandchildren. Family gatherings were something Veta always looked forward to. Her love of people and interest in others was her trademark. She left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
She is survived by her children, Steven Chapman, Patricia (Larry) Biscarner, Lynn (George) Wood, Marla (Joe) Zammitta, Annette Chapman and Michael Chapman; grandchildren, Jamie Lee (Mike) Spears, Kyle Chapman, Hannah Patterson, Shannon (Chris) Fryer, Brenton (Ashton) Biscarner, Sean (Kelly) Hunt, Kelly (Shawn) Gross, Cady Zammitta, Jake Zammitta and Heather (Clay) Royal; great grandchildren, Landen, Mason, Carsen, Kinsley Spears, Avery and Reade Patterson, Greyson and Sterling Fryer, Brecken and Crossen Biscarner, Aubrey Hunt and Laken and Braelyn Gross; brother, Troy Douthit; sisters, Diane Douthit and Judy Douthit and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Virginia White, Richard Douthit, June Jones and Ronnie Douthit.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday August 28th at 3:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visiting hours are Saturday August 28th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to service. If you are so inclined, you can wear Veta's favorite color, purple. A luncheon will follow the service at Alexander's Banquet Facility, Marysville.
