Timothy Laurence Zobl's Obituary
Timothy Laurence Zobl, age 84, of East China Twp., went to be with the Lord on August 27, 2025. He was born July 28, 1941 to the late Laurence and Lucy (Harris) Zobl. Tim was born and raised in Marine City, graduating from Holy Cross High School, class of 1959. He married Bonita Elizabeth Bending at St. Mary’s Church, St. Clair on January 6, 1962. Tim proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a radar technician. After 9 and a half years of service, he was honorably discharged as Tech Sargeant. In 1968 he started his career at Consumers Energy as a technician, through hard work and dedication, he worked his way up, retiring as a supervisor in 2010. He went on to work as a consultant and trainer for Consumers Energy from 2010-2020. Tim was very active in his community, serving as the president of the St. Clair Little League, president of St. Mary’s School P.T.O, cubmaster, pack 294, St. Clair for 5 years, then onto scoutmaster, troop 294, St. Clair for 15 years. He was a longtime member at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair, serving as an usher, lector, eucharistic minister, prayer minister, as well as several other duties. Tim was a member of the Youth for Understanding Exchange Program, where exchange students would reside with Tim and the family for the school year. He enjoyed that for 20 years. He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus council 2251, St. Clair. When Tim wasn’t serving his community, he would be found outdoors, feeding or watching the birds. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family, friends, and at church.
He is survived by his wife, Bonita “Bonnie” Zobl; children, Timothy II (Mïcole) Zobl, Christopher Zobl, Brian (Elizabeth Klebba) Zobl, Eric (Becky) Zobl, Kerri (fiancé, Frank Mazzara) Zobl; grandchildren, Lyric (Rob) LaHamouth, Sean (Melanie) Zobl, Chase Zobl, Emma Zobl, Brett (fiancé, Mikayla White) Zobl, Kyle Zobl, Mya Rank, Mason Rank Victoria Mazzara, Elizabeth Mazzara; great grandchildren, Barrett Zobl, Elliott Zobl, Elle LaHamouth; 20 international exchange students whom he considered sons and daughters; siblings, Alaina Prior, Thomas (Mary) Zobl, Terry Zobl, Pamela Kaufman, Travis Zobl.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lucy and Laurence Zobl; sister, Sharon Zobl; brothers-in-law, Richard Prior and James Kaufman.
Cremation arrangements with Young Funeral Home, China Twp. A memorial Mass will take place on Friday, September 5th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 4th from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Interment at military honors will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery immediately following mass.
