Thomas Edward McLeod's Obituary
On August 6, 2025, Thomas Edward Mcleod age 80 of St. Clair, Mi passed away in
the home he built surrounded by the family he created. Tom was born in Detroit, Mi. on January 6, 1945, to the late Donald and Henreitta Mcleod.
As the third of 11 siblings, Tom was a very strong-willed, leadership driven and independent young boy. This carried him into adulthood. His independence made him a natural leader, and his passion touched everything—from the way he worked to the way he loved.
On May 21, 1966, Tom married the love of his life Kathleen, and together they filled a
home with laughter, resilience, and love. They maintained a unique and enduring bond, supported by shared experiences and challenges, which enabled them to navigate difficulties and setbacks throughout their lives. Tom's strength wasn't just in how he carried burdens, but in how he lifted others. Tom was respected by everyone who shook his hand and had an unwavering commitment to taking care of his family.
As the family patriarch, he exceeded all expectations as a husband, father, son, brother, and friend. His dedication to carpentry and enthusiasm for working with his hands brought life to each project he undertook. He passed his passion for the outdoors, hunting, and fishing on to his children and grandchildren. Tom especially enjoyed crafting and carving handmade duck decoys that would later become one of his greatest accomplishments and today are on display in the Sombra Museum in Ontario Canada.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Kathleen Mcleod; children, Thomas (Renee) Mcleod, Matthew (Dawn) Mcleod, Marrilee (Randy) Atkins. Grandchildren, Sabrina (Nicholas) White, Brandi (Kyle) Pond, Scott (Elysia) Atkins, Tianna Mcleod, Courtney Mcleod, Ellianna Mcleod, Mireille Mcleod, and Nathaniel Mcleod. Great grandchildren; Joshua, Jayden, Reighlynn, Jason, Paisley, Logan, and Peyton; siblings, Joseph (Debbie) McLeod, John (Penny) McLeod, Mary Fajardo, Marie McCabe, Kathy (Tom) McCabe, Jeanie (Kenneth) Vollmer, Ann (Steve) Ferriby, Gerald (Betty) McLeod and Michael McLeod; sister-in-law, Ruth McLeod and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
He is proceeded in death by his brother Donald Mcleod and brothers-in-law, Dennis McCabe and Perfecto Fajardo and his first-born son Scott Mcleod.
Funeral services will be Monday, August 11th at 1:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visitation will be Sunday, August 10th from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to service. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, St. Clair.
