Mr. Ted Vicks' Obituary
Ted Vicks, age 89, of China Twp., died March 17, 2014 following a short illness with his loving wife at his side. Ted was born April 10, 1924 to Joseph and Amellia Vicks in Detroit. Ted was called to serve his country in 1943. He proudly served with the U.S. Army during World War II as a Combat Engineer. He battled in five major campaigns including Normandy on D-Day, Ardennes during the Battle of the Bulge and Rhineland. He was awarded the Chevlier Medal of the French Legion of Honour. Ted was a collector and historian of the Civil War. On April 1, 1980 He married Doris Lantz
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Doris Vicks, step children, David and James Lantz and Karen Ray, step grandchildren, Scott Lantz and Michael Ray, cousins, Wayne, Lynn, Sheila, Michelle (Tim) and Lauren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Vicks and uncles, Gabe and Pat Baraks.
Funeral services followed by military honors will be conducted Friday March 21st at 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visiting hours are Friday 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
