Sylvia Lee Watson's Obituary
Sylvia Lee Watson, age 83, of Marine City, died Wednesday August 16, 2017 in her home surrounded by family. She was born September 28, 1933 in Port Huron to the late Walter and Edna Buchler. On July 31, 1954 Sylvia married James G. Watson, he preceded her in death on February 5, 2000.
Sylvia is mother to Lynn (JoAnn) Watson and Laura (David) Dandron and was predeceased by her son, Larry Watson. She will also be greatly missed by her four granddaughters; Jennifer (Anthony) Ruffino, Lindsey (Aaron) Shovan, Ashley (Travis) Lusko and Noel Dandron (Richard Baxter). Sylvia was also loved by her six great grandchildren; Anthony Jr., Giani, Nicholas and Lorenzo Ruffino, Aiden Shovan and Emmie Lusko. She was preceded in death by her brother, Walter F. Buchler.
Quilting, gardening, doll making and taking care of her 5th generation family farm were just a few of her favorite pastimes. Sylvia taught pre-school at Marine City Co-op Nursery for 25 years. She was also an active member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Marine City, where she was even elected as Woman of the Year.
Funeral services will be held Monday August 21st at 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Marine City. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Marine City. Visiting hours are Sunday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and Monday 10 to 11 a.m. at church prior to service.
