Susan Mary Volkening's Obituary
Susan Mary Volkening, age 74, of Fort Gratiot, passed away January 3, 2021. She was born January 1, 1947 in Port Huron to the late Lawrence and Carmen Fisher.
On May 24, 1980 Susan married Richard Volkening. He preceded her in death in 2019. Susan retired from McLaren Macomb following 35 years of service as a registered nurse. She dedicated herself to caring for others. Susan also loved art and had a talent for drawing.
She is survived by her children, Richard (Dawn) Stone, Richard Volkening II and Michelle Volkening; grandchildren, Rodney and Zachary Stone, Dan, Nicole and Jessica; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Tom (Sandi) Fisher; special friends Mary and Jim Hagle and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Travis Stone and sister, Carmen Rankin.
Funeral services will be held Saturday January 9th at 10:00 a.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visiting hours are Friday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. prior to service. Masks are required. A private committal service will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Port Huron. Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.
