Shirley F. Russell's Obituary
Shirley F. Russell, age 76, of China Twp. formerly of Calhoun City, MS, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 6, 2021. She was born July 18, 1944 to the late Ernest and Opal Anglin. Shirley attended Oral Roberts University; and was a lifelong servant to “Her Sweet Jesus”.
Shirley helped start PTM Corporation with her late husband Charlie, she raced cars at Mount Clemens Racetrack and also in the 80’s raced for the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA). Shirley worked for Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, FL in the transportation department. She loved being on her farm with her tractors and trucks. Shirley was best described as a beautiful, tenacious, outgoing, outspoken woman, a follower of Christ and was considered as “mother” to many. Shirley always had a door open anytime for anyone and a giving heart to serve everyone she came into contact with. She loved her children, grandchildren, extended family and friends and Jesus Christ.
Shirley is survived by her children, Donna (Steve) Kuhr, Nika (Jeff) Hess, Gina Russell, Danni (Justin Potvin) Russell; grandchildren, Steven (Casey) Kuhr, Katy Kuhr, Jeffrey Hess, Justin Hess, Jordan (Fiancée Justina) Hess, Jenelle Hess (David Johns), Legend Russell-Atty, Lourde Russell-Atty, Vexi Russell-Atty, Jonathan (Jessie) Russell; great grandchildren, Mila Rose Hess, Charli Reagan Russell; siblings, Gene Anglin, Patricia Rose Anglin, Raymond Anglin, Dale Anglin, Gail Brown, Lem Gilland, Mickey Gilland, Lydia Gilland, Dorothy Gilland-Quartaro, David Gilland, Johnny Gilland and Elmer Gilland.
She is preceded in death by a sister Opal Sue Anglin.
A funeral ceremony will be Wednesday, February 10th 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. with visiting from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, St. Clair. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Community Foundation of St. Clair County in memory of Shirley Russell.
