Wish I had known earlier, however my mom was in hospital at the time and I was out of the loop with everyone, and my mom just passed recently, then I found out about Shirley. What a great person, my heart goes out to the entire family. She's singing a tune with Elvis I bet, if not kicking back and watching a good movie. Shirley was a bit like a mom to me as well when I was younger, hanging out with Kimmy and Dan. Giving me some wise words of wisdom and encouragement. And yes, she could always whip up a great meal.
We will meet again some day,

I think we shared more phone calls then actually seeing each other. I dated her beloved Son Richard Cain when we were set up for a blind date by Shirley's Daughter Ardyce. Rich was battleing lung cancer when I met him. But Shirley & Butch raised such a wonderful Man , their will never be another love for me like Rich. But at such a tough time for the whole Family and of course his Mom Shirley they choose to share him with me. I am so gratefull for such a great love and I do know that the time he spent with me was hard on them. Shirley's heart was truly broken when Rich passed so we cryed a lot together on the phone. I always made it a point to call her over the Christmas Holiday. And last year I told her I had a couple of fender benders and she told me that Rich had told her that I was an awful driver and I did not know he thought that and we both laughed. I have many many good memories of my sister-in-law Shirley. Not only a sister-in-law but a good friend.
Don't know how she did it but everything she cooked she made it taste good, even the turtle my brother made me try.
The funniest memory was at their house on 26mile road sitting at her kitchen table playing cards and this big big man (Sam) came busting thru their back door and scared me so bad I dove under the table hitting my head and Shirley was laughing so hard I think she you know what on herself.
Thank you Shirley for taking such good care of my brother for all of these years. You will truely be missed. RIP sister-in-law
