Shane Halaas' Obituary
Shane Halaas, age 25, of Chesterfield, Michigan, passed away July 20, 2017. He was born August 28, 1991 in Clinton Twp. Shane graduated in 2009 from Orchard Lake St. Mary’s High School, where he was an all-state athlete in football, hockey, and baseball. Shane was drafted by the OHL in 2007 and the NAHL in 2009. Currently playing professionally with the Watertown Wolves in New York, where he was affectionately known as the “Junk Yard Dog”
He is survived by his loving parents, Jack and Kathleen Halaas; sister and best friend, Trisha Halaas; soul mate, Claire Teifer; grandmother, Shevawn Distelrath; “brother”, Nick, and the rest of his “brothers” and teammates. He will also be deeply missed by his beloved extended family, aunts, uncles, cousins, and his dogs, Chloe, Callie, Mack, and Hazel.
Funeral mass will be Friday, July 28th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Queen of Creation, New Baltimore, Michigan. Visiting hours are Thursday, 3 to 8 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp., Michigan and Friday, 10 to 10:30 a.m. at church prior to mass.
