How do you put into words how much you will miss the father who taught you so much in life. The moment he left this earth a part of me did too. His strength, wisdom, love of family had a powerful impact on everyone. He was called "The Godfather" of the family by my sons. He had a presence about him that made you feel protected and loved. His bear hugs, the twinkle in those blue eyes, his values, every lesson in life, your word is your bond, and the old school ways he raised us all. He taught my boys how to be men and they treasured the summers they spend with him. Every memory that I have of him is etched in my mind, it brings joy...and sadness that he left before I flew home to visit. Every person on this earth should know a man as honorable as him. He was a true man in every sense of the word. God, Family, and he lived his life that way. I miss you beyond words dad....till I see you again.

Another HUGE part of the Calnan Family is now gone. Uncle Sean was so good, so strong, so sweet, so wise, and will be so missed. I wish this wasn't happening. Uncle Sean was a very good uncle and I will treasure all his memories and will treasure every moment I can with our family. Debbie.

My brother Kip and Sean were like brothers. Kip always talked about his "buddy from Detroit". I got to spend some time with Sean after Kip passed away and became very fond of him. There seemed to be a bond there through Kip even though we hadn't known each other that long. We had a great visit back during the Spring when he came to Tryon and before we left that mountainside Sean asked me if I wanted to say a prayer. With my arm around his shoulder we thanked God for that day, the beauty of His creation, for Kip's life and for family and friends. We prayed that He would be with us and guide us and give us safe travel. Sean had a heart of gold and meant much to my brother, to me and to our family. We will miss our Irish buddy from Detroit but we know he is with our Lord. May God comfort you members of Sean's family and grant you His peace.

Sean's visits to the "mountainside" in Tryon were always anticipated. His Tryon home is on the property behind me. Kip, his great friend, also lived on the mountainside behind me. Sean was my friend. He was compassionate and understood from his own losses when I was grieving over the death of my husband. When our friend Kip passed away, we became even closer. He and Jim would almost always arrive at my front door bearing the gift of one of those wonderful cream pies! Then tease me because I would eat the whole thing by myself. Sean had a huge heart. I will deeply miss him and his visits to our "mountainside" Robin Herron

Sean was a wonderful person as well as a great friend. Always there if you needed him. This is a sad time for all who knew and love him. And to Madeline, the kids and all who are near and dear to Sean, may God bless and strengthen you guys in this time of sorrow. I'm going to miss you Sean.

Between the three families (Calnans,Tobins, & Zukoniks) there were twelve cousins. Big cousins and small cousins. Kathleen and Sean were the biggest of the big cousins,my brother Padraig and I were youngest of the little cousins. We always wanted to tag along with the big cousins. Sean would say come on,but you have to keep up. So we struggled to keep up; but we were at Uncle Joes farm,hanging with the big cousins and we could'nt have been any happier. Sean was a wonderful person. We didn't see him often but his visits here to Tryon were memorable. The world is just a bit poorer now that he is gone.

Sean was my 1st cousin. His Father, Joseph Calnan, and my Mother Shevawn Calnan Zukonik were brother and sister. I have many memories of our families spending holidays at their family farm in Adair, our home in Ecorse and our other cousins home, the Tobins, in Dearborn. Sean was a tall handsome man whose quiet demeanor gave me a sense of his strength, kindness and protective love. I looked up to him and considered him a role model before I knew what a role model was. I loved him dearly and will miss spirit and warm smile. Padraig
