Sarah "Sally" Frye McVety's Obituary
Sarah “Sally” Frye McVety, age 87, of St. Clair, passed away peacefully in her home on August 11, 2017. She was born December 6, 1929 in Detroit to the late Delph and Virginia Didier. On January 6, 1951 Sally married Sherwin “Bud” Frye, he predeceased her in 1978. She later married Richard McVety on May 10, 1980, he also preceded her in death in 2015.
Sally formerly worked at Her’s Fashions in St. Clair for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair Garden Club and the St. Clair Dance Club. She enjoyed boating, playing bridge and golfing, but her time spent with her family is what she cherished most.
Sally is survived by her children, Catherine Frye-O’Dowd, Susan (Brian) Clark, Thomas (Heidi) Frye, Mary (Steve) Winckler, Dave (Lisa) McVety, Dan (Paula) McVety and Drew (Margaret) McVety-Robinson; grandchildren, Sarah (Joe), Michael (Bridgette), James, Jon, Connor, Madison, Matthew, Cory, Chad (Laurie), Brandy, Josh (Miranda), Max, Nelson, Bailey, Duncan, Shaw and Alice; nine great grandchildren and her beloved cat, Paisley.
The family extends special thanks to her caregivers Heather and Victoria at Port Haven Manor/Ability Plus for their loving care.
Funeral services will be Monday August 14th at 11 a.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, St. Clair. Visiting hours are Sunday 2 to 8 p.m. and Monday 10 to 11 a.m. prior to service. A rosary recital will be Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
