Sam was one of the first people in St. Clair that I met. He was an inspiration to me by how he shared his Christian faith with others. He was truly a great man and my prayers are with his family.
Dear Cathy and family; Chris and I are so sorry for your loss. I will always have fond memories of our "car-pool" rides from Lexington to St. Clair daily! Sam would go to Dietlins for his day of cutting hair and I would go to Kuhns to write-up service customers. We would talk about anything and everything in that 45 minute drive. But Sam always made it interesting, to the point that it would only seem like a 10 minute drive. I also loved the way he cut my hair. Not sure if they cut hair in Heaven, but rest assured if they do, Sam will be one of the best barbers, as he will have the longest line of guys waiting for his chair! He was a good man, outstanding citizen, great Father, loving husband and an awesome friend. I just wish we hadn't drifted apart after he sold the barbershop in St. Clair and started cutting hair in Grosse Pointe. Last time I saw him was down at RDH Family Practice last year. I had just had blood drawn, and he was next. Didn't get a very good chance to talk with him except that he had moved back into the area, so I was hoping to re-connect, but never did. The best part is, we will get to see him again when it's our turn meet our Lord and Savior!
Again, thank you for the memories and may God Bless you and your family and help you through this time of sorrow.

Sam was our barber for years in GP Woods. He was the only one who could get Owen's hair cut just right. It was a sad day when he sold the shop and retired. We used to exchange stories about the St. Clair area. It's a small world when you find out that you're barber is from your hometown area. He'll be missed. Rest easy, Sam! 🙏🙏
Rest in Peace, Sam. Oh so many memories of high school; playing football, ice skating & sledding.
It has been said, "Where ever a good soul has walked, there is a trail of beautiful memories". This sentiment truly applies when I think of you, Sam. So many memories of good times. Times of growing up and planning our lives.
Prayers for Cathy and family.
Oh Sammy, where do I begin with the memories that go back over 50 years ago when I first met you at the Gottler house. We were both young and meeting our Loves at about the same time. You meeting Cathy and me meeting Steve (Butchy). You and I considered ourselves "Special" and I'd like to think it was because we were both twins! I knew from the very beginning that our relationship would be unique, we were two of a kind - you called us "Outlaws" and as the time went on, you called me your "Favorite Sister-in-Law" and I loved it although I knew that your called all your sister-in-laws your favorite.
Through the years we shared more than just "memories" - we shared our love of our spouses, family, and our friends. The laughs were always plentiful when we were together. We never ran out of things to laugh or joke about and between you and Steve, you always took it to the next level of hilarity! I am sure that Cathy can recall the times that we laughed until we cried! I will never forget these instances. And you were the one that was always there for me when Steve needed medical attention or help. You put me at ease with your kindness and consideration.
Sammy, you never judged people, you loved unconditionally and your kindness was felt by all. These are the traits that make a "Beautiful Man" and you Sir, are that Man. Knowing that your heart surgery was scheduled; my last words to you at Diane's funeral was: "Sammy, there had better not be anything bad that happens to you"! You held me tight and said: "Janny, I love you so much"! We both had tears in our eyes and perhaps you had a premonition?
Rest in peace my dear Sammy, play the guitar with Steve (Butchy) and David and argue over who has the best voice! I'll check in on Cathy now and then but I sure that your beautiful family will see to it that she is taken care of.
I remain, Your "Favorite Sister-In-Law", Janny
Prayers for your family and may he RIP

Prayers and condolences to the Sam Pizzo family. I still remember playing baseball with the Pizzo brothers off Belle River Rd. They were good and happy memories.
