Ruth Shirley (Springborn) Posey's Obituary
Ruth Shirley (Springborn) Posey, age 97, of Marine City, died January 8, 2016. She was born August 30, 1918 in St. Clair. Ruth married Russell Springborn on October 8, 1938 and he preceded her in death in 1958. She later married Edward Posey on September 20, 1969. He predeceased her in 2007.
Ruth graduated from Beauty School in 1936 and opened Ruth’s Beauty Shop in 1949 and worked until the age of 85, doing her lovely ladies hair. She was a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Casco Twp. and a current member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Marine City, where she was also active with the Ladies Aid. Her memberships also included the Amici Club, Michigan Cosmetology Association and the Organ Club.
She is survived by her son, James Springborn, daughter, Susan Hart (Richard Schulte), five grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, daughter in law, Judy Springborn, dear friend and longtime employee, Bev Furtah, special visitors, Mark and Maggie Bassham, Jackie Quick and her church family and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death her brother, Russell (Edna) Draves, sister, Clester (Harvey) Fordt and sister in law Leona (Earl) Uppleger.
The family thanks the staff at Mallards Landing, Reverence Hospice and special caregivers Denise and Dawn for the friendship, compassionate care and devotion given to their mother and grandmother.
Funeral service will be held Saturday January 16th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Marine City. Pastor Troy Waite will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Marine City. Visiting hours are Friday 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday prior to service. Memorials are suggested to St. Martin’s Lutheran Church or Reverence Hospice.
