Mr. Roy R. Thueme's Obituary
Roy R. Thueme, age 85, of St. Clair passed away peacefully on June 18, 2013 at River District Hospital, East China, Mich. after a year-long battle with heart problems.
Roy was born on September 23, 1927 in Peters, Mich. to the late Edward and Laura (Kaufman) Thueme. Roy married his beloved late wife of 40 years, Louise J. Horn, on December 4, 1948 in Peters. In 1994 Roy started "dating" Donna Simons, and they have been together ever since.
Roy was employed with Diamond Crystal Salt Company for 19 years before being hired by the City of St. Clair as a heavy equipment operator, but his great love and life's accomplishment was being a volunteer fireman for the City of St. Clair for 37 years from 1952 - 1989. Achieving the rank of First Assistant Chief. Up until a few weeks ago, Roy met his retired fireman buddies daily at the fire hall for coffee and conversation.
Roy was a loving husband, companion, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and lived life to the fullest. The highlight of every Friday and Saturday night was to listen to Harry's music at the Voyageur with Donna and all his many friends, sitting on a "stool" he called his own. He was a great friend to many and will be sadly missed.
Roy was also a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, St. Clair.
Roy is survived by his four children and their spouses: Dianne (Robert) Stubbs, Edward (Patricia) Thueme, Donald (Kathy) Thueme and Jeffrey (Lori) Thueme, his grandchildren; Renee (Ben) Lasher, Ryan Stubbs, Rachel (Ken) Zanon, Brian (Becki Bonney) Thueme, Alicia (Clint Zaayer) Thueme, Aimee Thueme, Erik Thueme, Ariana (Josh) Gordon, and two step-granddaughters; Renee (Donn) Bacon and Shanon Tylen and their families, his great-grandchildren; Jake, Sam, Ella, Christian, Noah, Zachary and Mialani, sister; Vera Vogel and many nieces and nephews and his loving companion Donna Simons.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Louise; brother, Melvin; sister, Helen and grandsons, Andrew Stubbs and Kyle Thueme.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday June 21st at 11:00 a.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, St. Clair.
Visiting hours are Thursday 2:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandson. Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, St. Clair or St. Clair Fire Department.
