Mr. Roy J. Griffor Sr.'s Obituary
Roy J. Griffor Sr., age 81, a lifelong resident of the Marine City area, died May 14, 2012. He was born September 26, 1930 in Casco Twp., to the late George and Rose Griffor. On June 17, 1950 Roy married Mary Ann Ladensak in Marine City. She preceded him in death in 2003.
Roy was a carpenter for many years, building many homes in the area.
He is survived by his children; Roy Griffor Jr., Paul (Ann) Griffor, Ron (Annette) Griffor and Carla (Trevor) Brazell, ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren, sisters; Mary Strauch and Theresa Griffor, sisters in law; Agnes Griffor, Margaret Griffor and Lila Griffor, close friend: Chris Vartanian and many brothers in law and sisters in law surviving and predeceased of the Ladensak family. Roy was also predeceased by brothers; William, Jim and Urban Griffor and brother in law; Leo Strauch.
Funeral mass will be conducted Friday May 18th at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady on the River Parish, Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marine City. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Visiting hours are Wednesday 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday 12:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and Friday 11:30 to 12:00 at the church prior to mass. A scripture service will be conducted Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142
