Uncle Roy was my favorite uncle. I can remember when I was just a little tot having fun with him. Many trips to Michigan when I was younger to see him and Aunt Sue. When he moved back to Tennessee we were happy. By that time I was grown and family of my own. I can just say Uncle Roy rest in peace and I will take care of your baby brother and you be good to my mom. Until we meet again. I Love you. Mary Denise Burch Goad
I have a few fond memories of my Papa Roy. Up until his last few days he was always having some words of wisdom. You could barely make them out, but he was always one to have an idea on how to fix something.
My earliest memory of Roy is of my brothers him and I all going sucker fishing, or him taking us out ice fishing. Papa Roy loved to fish, and loved putting things together and figuring out new things. He may have loved his cigarettes, but he loved his coffee much more. Whenever I saw him when I was younger he'd have a cup and a cig that's how he did his work in the garage. Plus we got a penny for picking up cig butts, so I didn't mind.
Roy was tough as nails and it didn't seem like he took crap from anyone. If you want to remember Roy I would say grab a fishing pole and go to your favorite spot and enjoy yourself.

Four memories that I have, that were "classic Roy":
1) Working in the garage. He taught me the lesson "if you ain't gonna do it right, don't bother doing it at all".
2) Ice fishing on the lake. Driving the Suburban & Quads out on the ice.
3) Driving the Suburban up to Sears to get an air compressor (which I think that my Grandmother still has to this day).
4) Roy sure loved his coffee. At one of the family events we had at my Macomb house (I believe it was this past Easter), Roy especially was fond of the coffee that I had made for everyone. I was so glad that I was able to make his day that I sent some packages of the coffee over to my Mom's, so she could make it for him every once in a while.
We will miss him!!
