Roman "Ray" Oles' Obituary
Roman J. "Ray" Oles, age 89, of China Twp., passed away April 17, 2016 with his loving wife by his side. He was born December 8, 1926 in Detroit to the late John and Aniela Oles. He faithfully served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a military police officer. He married Norma Trumble September 29, 1956 in St. Clair. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Clair.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed gardening, euchre games, playing the harmonica for his grandkids, spending time at the family cabin in Caseville, and trips to the casino. He was very dedicated to his family and loved spending time with them.
He is survived by his wife; Norma Oles, his children; Janet (Gordon) Durham, Betty (Tom) Bemiss, Cindy (Erv) Westrick, Paul (Becky) Oles, Patty (Steve) Russell, Ed (Katherine) Oles, and Angie (Mike) Zoeplitz. He is also survived by; 19 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, brothers; Ben (Cathy) Oles, Joe Oles, sister; Berniece (Harold) Schmitz, sister in-law; Kathleen Haligowski, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his son; Jim Oles , along with 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 23 at 10:15 a.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. followed by a mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church, St.Clair at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. A rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m. Friday evening. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Cemetery Fund or donor's choice.
