Robert W. Thompson's Obituary
Robert W. Thompson, age 86, of Marine City, passed away May 12, 2021. He was born January 15, 1935 in Marine City to the late Herbert and Helen Thompson.
Bob honorably served his country with the U.S. Army. On September 1, 1962 Bob married Joyce Zweng. She preceded him in death in 2017. Bob was the original co-owner of Blue Water Oil. He was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, where he started the Holy Cross Charity Bingo and devoted many years working and overseeing bingo operations. Bob was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #856, Marine City. His family will always remember his love of fishing and playing cards.
Bob is survived by his brother, Norman (Garlin) Thompson; sisters in law, Elaine Schweihofer and Anne Zweng; many nieces and nephews and best friends, Joe and Denise Slankster and family. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Thompson; brothers in law, Jim Schweihofer and LeRoy Zweng.
Funeral mass will be Monday May 17th at 11:00 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, OLR Parish, Marine City. Visiting hours are Saturday May 15th 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and Monday 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at church prior to mass.
