Robert Arthur "Herk" Stubbs' Obituary
Robert Arthur “Herk” Stubbs, age 78, of East China, Michigan, passed away Monday, March 24, 2025 from complications prior to his treatment for prostate cancer.
“Herk” was born in St. Clair, Michigan on January 12, 1947 to the late Herbert and Elizabeth Stubbs. On April 17, 1970, Herk married Dianne Thueme and they were married for almost 55 years.
Herk honorably served in the United States Air Force for 4 years, during the Vietnam Era. Serving two of those years in Alaska, which he loved. Throughout his life, he worked as a printer and then as a machinist, retiring from Vogel Industries in Marine City.
Herk loved his time outdoors, hunting and fishing, but most of all he loved his family, his wife, Dianne, his children, Renee (Ben) Lasher, Andrew Stubbs and Ryan Stubbs, his grandchildren, Jake Lasher, Sam Lasher and Ella Stubbs, brothers in law, Ed (Pat) Thueme, Don (Kathy) Thueme, Jeff (Lori) Thueme, and many nieces and nephews. He was also very close to his cousins, Fran (Joe) Meyers, Bobbie Umlauf, Jerry (Is) Umlauf and Rose (Bob) Baumgarten and their families and many treasured friends.
Herk suffered terrible grief when his son, Andrew Stubbs, passed away in 2009. That left a big hole in his heart. Herk was a very humble, caring man. Always willing to help anyone and he will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 28th at 3:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. with visitation prior to service from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans.
