Robert Peter Sans' Obituary
Robert Peter Sans, age 85, of Fair Haven, formerly of Mount Clemens, passed away surrounded by his family after a courageous battle of illnesses on February 28, 2024. He was born September 27, 1938 to the late Maurice and Mary Sans. Robert was born and raised in Mount Clemens where he grew up working on the family farm as well as assisting with their family business in town, Sans Market.
He married Diane Roche on August 5, 1961, who preceded him in death on December 19, 2005. Robert honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Cuban Mistle Crisis. Following his time in the Army, Robert went on and worked as an engineer for 35 plus years. Starting at Fisher Body which eventually finished as General Motors.
In his spare time, Robert was an avid fisherman. He loved to fish any chance he could. When he wasn’t fishing, he was playing cards, especially euchre. Robert was a part of several euchre clubs. He also enjoyed hunting, and working on his vegetable farm. Robert truly cherished the time he spent with his family. Robert was a strong man who fought the good fight, and lived life to the fullest. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Sandy (Stephen) Clarke, Shelly (Matt) Mueller, Steven (Heather) Sans, Sherry (Mark) Hedges; grandchildren, Renee, Rebecca, Matthew, Mitchell, Justin, Ashley, Mikayla; great grandchildren, Lilliana, Charlotte, Matthew; great great grandchild, Staciana.
Cremation arrangements have taken place with Young Funeral Home, China Twp. A memorial mass will be Saturday, March 9th at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Ira Twp. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:00 at the church prior to mass. Military honors will be conducted following mass. Memorials are suggested to the St. Clair County Allied Veterans.
