Robert H. Hammond's Obituary
Robert Harvey Hammond, of Algonac, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, February 23, 2025, in Lakeland, Florida, at the age of 75. He was born on May 30, 1949, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan to the late Russell and Joyce Hammond (nee Jensen).
On May 17, 1969 he married the love of his life, Carol Sanderson, daughter of Robert and Erma Sanderson (nee Graham).
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carol Hammond, his daughter; Sarah (Brian) Peebles, granddaughter; Chloe and grandson; Isaac.
He is also survived by his sister; Carol (James) Wiltshire, brother; Richard (Mary) Hammond, along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother; Mark Hammond.
Robert was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Clair, where he served as an elder.
He worked for Lionel Trains, TRW, and retired from Ford Motor Company in 2011. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing and taking rides on his boat up and down the North Channel in Algonac. In 2013 he and Carol began spending their winters in Lakeland, FL, where they attended Lake Morton Community Church. He also enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers play during Spring Training in Lakeland.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 6 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Clair. Interment will be at Willow Grove Cemetery, Richmond Twp. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and Thursday at church one hour prior to the service.
