Robert A. Gennrich's Obituary
Robert A. Gennrich, age 78, of Roscommon, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025. He was born July 19 1947, in Hamtramck to the late George and Bernice Gennrich. Bob attended Hamtramck High School. He earned his GED then went on to study Electronics at ITT Tech in Grand Rapids class on 1976, and then later completed Electrician Trade School. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany. He married the love of his life, Sandy on April 18, 1975 where they made home in Roscommon for 46 years. Bob had a great work ethic who worked as an electrician and sound board operator, electronics technician, supervisor at MATES – part of Camp Grayling, retiring at the age of 59 in 2006. He was an active member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church for over 45 years, where he volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman, especially ice fishing. He always looked forward to their annual hunting trip with the grandkids where the deer were safe, and the snacks and hot chocolate was plenty. He spent countless hours around the kitchen table playing card games, board games, doing puzzles like Sudoku and crosswords. Bob was also a Star Wars and Harry Potter enthusiast. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, and reading. Above all, family meant the world to Bob, he cherished the time he spent with his grandkids, Gavin, Gracie and Emmie. Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son brother and friend. He took great pride in providing for his family and leading by example. Bob was a selfless man, who always put others needs before his own. The jack of all trades, who knew how to fix just about anything. His kind soul and generosity will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by son, Bob (Meghan) Gennrich; grandchildren Gavin, Gracie, and Emmie; brother, Joe Gennrich, as well as several nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sandy; siblings, Sue Stitchick, Tom Gennrich, & Theresa Hypnarowicz.
Cremation has taken place, a memorial visitation will take place on Thursday, July 31st from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. With military honors being conducted at 7:30 p.m. There will be a Memorial Mass at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Roscommon at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the wishes of the family.
