Robert Gamble's Obituary
Robert Gamble, age 88, of St. Clair, died May 15, 2011. He was born in Greenock, Scotland on June 9, 1922. He was the son of John and Catherine (McLean) Gamble. His family immigrated to the United States when he was 2 yrs old. He married Audrey (Kersten) on February 1, 1947 in Detroit, MI. She died on November 15, 1998. Robert served in the OSS during WW2 in Europe and Africa. He started out as a mail boy in the Maxon Advertising Agency in Detroit, MI. He rose through the company working especially on the Gillette account. He then joined J. Walter Thompson Advertising Agency, where he spent many years working on the Ford account and traveling around the country until his retirement as an executive vice president in 1989. He was an avid golfer, who prided himself as still being able to beat men younger than himself when he was 88 yrs old. He was also a long time member of the Detroit Athletic Club. He is survived by his 7 children: Cheryl (Thomas) Williamson, Denise Foote, Robert (Carol) Gamble, Laurie (Charles) Krantz, Claudia Hansen, Craig (Lori) Gamble, and Paul Gamble. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 7 great grand children, brother, John (Catherine) Gamble, a sister-in-law Arlene Kersten and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister (Kathleen). Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Preschool, St Clair, MI. A memorial Service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St Clair on Saturday May 28th at 11:00 a.m.
