Robert "Bob" Oles' Obituary
Robert “Bob” Oles, age 76, life time resident of St. Clair, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 22, 2023. Bob was born in St. Clair on July 23, 1947 to the late Louis and Joanne Oles. On August 1, 1970 he married Ann Weidenbach. Bob honorably served his country in the United States Army for 2 years during the Vietnam era. He worked as a machinist for BTM for several years. In his spare time, Bob was an avid golfer and bowler. He was proud to be the first person to bowl a 300 game at the St. Clair River Lanes. Also, included in Bob’s sporting milestones, was a hole in one he got at Grey Oaks Golf Course in Florida. After retirement, when he wasn’t bowling or golfing, he would be working in his yard. He enjoyed cutting the grass, tending to his flowers and garden. He was a frequent keno player and was well known by his family and friends to enjoy his occasional PBR. Above all, he cherished the time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved going to all of their sporting events, basketball in particular.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; children, Missy (Kevin) Donaldson, C.J. Oles; grandchildren, Kara and Sean Donaldson, and Jackson Oles; siblings, Ted (Melva) Oles, Tom (Cheri) Oles, Larry Oles, Ken (Marilyn) Oles, Mary Beth Oles, Denny Distelrath, ex daughter in law, Kerrie Oles, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his siblings; John Oles, Nancy Distelrath, and Lou Ann Oles.
Cremation arrangements have taken place with Young Funeral Home, China Twp. A celebration of life and military honors will take place on Sunday, November 26th at 3:00p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visiting hours will be from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service on Sunday. Following the service and military honors, a luncheon will be provided at the American Legion, St. Clair.
