Rita F. Gunn's Obituary
Rita F. Gunn, age 92, of St. Clair, passed away very peacefully with her family by her side on October 12, 2017. Rita was born September 27, 1925 in St. Clair to the late Arthur and Frances Ahles. She and her husband Robert W. Gunn first met through one of Bob’s fellow Marines. They married on April 8, 1947 in Napoleon, Ohio and enjoyed 59 years of marriage before Bob’s passing in 2006.
Rita was a lifetime member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, St. Clair, where she participated on many committees and church activities. She also enjoyed spending time bowling, baking, reading, gardening and solving jigsaw puzzles. She was also a huge fan of the Detroit Tigers, always making time to watch every game.
She is survived by her children, Sue Kasemeyer, Rob (Carol) Gunn, Becky (Doug) DeVary and Nancy (Tom) Latowski; grandchildren, Buddy and Rob Bernardo, Jeremy (Billie) Gunn, Andy (Melissa) Gunn, Tim (Sonya) DeVary, Tony (Bibi) DeVary, Tammy DeVary, Kelly (Rob) Minshall, Rachel (Gary) Babcock and Jennifer Kammer; great-grandchildren, Christian, Aubrie, Amberly, Colin, Bradley, Corporal Jacob (Megan) Gunn, USMC, Conner, Hannah, Noe, Raya, T.J., Aiden, Alyson, Eva, Nora, Gary and Jim; great-great-grandson, Trevor and very dear friends, Dick and Janice Golder.
She was preceded in death by siblings; Loren Ahles, Betty Richter and Marilyn Pegg.
Rita’s funeral service will be held Tuesday October 17th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, St. Clair followed by interment in Hillside Cemetery, St. Clair. Visiting hours are Monday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and Tuesday 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at church prior to service.
