Richard F. Vermeulen's Obituary
Richard F. “Dick” Vermeulen, age 78, of East China Twp., died September 29, 2016. Richard was born December 20, 1937 to the late Walbert and Louise Vermeulen. He was raised on the family farm in Fair Haven and following high school he honorably served his country with the U.S. Army in Europe. Richard married Suzanne (nee Sadler) Vermeulen on September 2, 1961 at Holy Cross Church, Marine City. He received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Wayne State University and retired from General Motors after 40 years of employment. Dick was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a lifelong farmer.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Suzanne Vermeulen, daughters, Karen Vermeulen and Elizabeth Bickley, granddaughter Kaitlyn Bickley, brother, Wilbur Vermeulen and sister Carole Black.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon “Butch” Vermeulen
A Mass of Resurrection will be Wednesday October 5th at 12 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Our Lady on the River Parish, Marine City. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Visiting hours are Tuesday 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. with a 7:00 p.m. rosary recital. Additional visitation will be Wednesday at the church one hour prior to mass.
