Richard C. Stirzinger's Obituary
Richard C. Stirzinger, age 89, of Sandusky, formerly of East China Twp., passed away January 7, 2019. He was born August 6, 1929 in Detroit to the late Albert and Wilma Stirzinger. On November 29, 1952 Richard married Carol Marie (Angle) Stirzinger. She preceded him in death on July 23, 2018.
Richard proudly served his country during the Korean War with the U.S. Navy. After serving his country he joined the Detroit Fire Department where he served for 35 years retiring in 1987.
Richard was a Lifetime Member of Fred Quandt VFW Post #3901 Algonac, American Legion Charles Fulton Post #382, Sterling Heights Post #0161 and Peck Post #489, St. Clair Knights of Columbus Council #2251 and the Detroit Police and Fire Retirement Association.
He is survived by his sons, Gary (Diane) Stirzinger and Roger (Marie) Stirzinger; grandchildren, Gary Jr., Tracy, Patrick, Steven and Amy; 8 great grandchildren and his sister, Doris Clavenna.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Albert and Bob Stirzinger and sister, Gerry Pochert.
Funeral services will be held Friday January 11th at 2:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, East China Twp. Visiting hours are Friday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
