Richard N. Biewer's Obituary
Richard N. Biewer, age 85, of St. Clair, passed away peacefully November 7, 2016. His family mourns the loss of a beloved husband, loving father and cherished grandfather.
Dick was born March 11, 1931 in St. Clair to the late John and Hazel Biewer. He honorably served his country with the U.S. Air Force. On April 18, 1959 Richard married Shirley Fordt in St. Mary’s Church in St. Clair and they enjoyed 57 wonderful years of marriage.
Dick worked in the family business, John A. Biewer Lumber Company, in St. Clair and successfully contributed to his parent’s legacy with a new vision that has now developed into nine locations throughout the Midwest.
Dick was one of the former founding members of the St. Clair Golf Club. He was also a member of the St. Clair Investment Club, Knights of Columbus Council 2251, St. Clair, St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Ushers Club.
Dick was an avid sportsman. His love for the outdoors was apparent in his countless hunting and fishing trips he would take. Whether it was a simple rabbit hunt with his beloved beagles or his African Safaris and bear trips around the world, Dick loved it all. He was also an active member of the Richmond Sportsman Club, Ducks Unlimited and Safari Club International.
Dick’s generosity was felt throughout the community. He was especially proud of the Cartwheel Kids Statue in St. Clair that he and Shirley donated in honor of their grandchildren. His family will forever remember and cherish his big smile, infectious laugh and the love and friendship they shared together.
Dick is survived by his wife, Shirley Biewer, children; Brian (Lillian) Biewer, Timothy (Kim) Biewer, Debbie (Rick) Schleife and Diane (Jeff) Greig, grandchildren; Tracy (Brandon) Conley, Bradley Biewer, Tyler Wilund, Nick and Blake Biewer, Ashley and Kyle Schleife and Miranda, Megan and Trevor Greig, great granddaughters; Lila Conley and Amy Wilund, brother, Robert (Anne) Biewer, brother in law and sisters in law; Roman and Donna Machurick and Doris Earl and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sisters; Mary Ann Dietlin and Carol Warren, brothers; Fred and Jack Biewer, father in law and mother in law; Harvey and Clester Fordt.
Visiting hours are Friday November 11th from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. with a prayer service concluding the visitation at 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin Saturday November 12th at 1:15 p.m. at Young Funeral Home and processing to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair for a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Resurrection.
