Rebecca Ruth Baird Lepley's Obituary
Rebecca Ruth Baird Lepley (80), May 9, 1945 to November 20, 2025, was born in Monongahela, PA. Survived by husband Bob, sisters Barbara Clegg and Deborah Baird-McKinney, daughters Celeste Weissinger, Christen Lepley, and Clare Lepley, son-in-law Francis Weissinger, grand-daughters Sydney and Avery Weissinger, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Becky graduated from Monongahela Area High School, Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education; St. John's Provincial Seminary, Plymouth, MI with a Master's of Divinity, and the Chaplain's Academy, Macomb Community College. She was ordained to the Episcopal Priesthood in 1985.
Becky taught vocal music in Harper Woods and East Detroit Public schools. She served as a Deacon at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Detroit; Associate Rector at St. Christopher-St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Redford; interim Rector at Grace Episcopal Church, Mt. Clemens; Rector at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Marine City; and Priest in Charge, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Harsen's Island.
Becky was active with community and service work and as a musician as well. She performed with the Warren Concert Band, the East China Concert Band, the St. Clair Singers, and was lead vocalist with Blue Water Brass & Sass. She was a co-founder of the Friends of City Hall in Marine City, served as a City Commissioner, served as the Chaplain to the Marine City Police Department, and was a member of the Rotary Club.
She was pre-deceased by her mother, June Weinel Baird, and father, Clinton Orth Baird.
She passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.
Becky was known to her family as the "Pollyanna," with a bright, jovial, and joyous outlook on all that life put before her. She was a four-time cancer survivor before losing this latest battle with leukemia. The family requests any bequests and donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
