Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their fathers.
(Proverbs 17:6 ESV)
Ray was everything but aged, he was one of my most energetic recruits. He managed to keep pace with Brownie Troop #70512 as their token chauffeur, we left the driving to Ray; gemologist, at one of our field trips to Coughlin Jewelers, within minutes of entering the jeweler, Ray under no uncertain terms taught the girls, "Diamonds are a girl's best friend:" anthropologist, he always managed to "dig in" regardless of what they were searching for; meteorologist, his weather forecast was more accurate than the professionals; zoologist, he could tame any lion regardless of her roar.
Selfishly I am deeply saddened...I considered Ray one of my Brownie Co-Leaders. He and I had plans, big plans. From learning about lifesize model airplanes to boarding a downbound freighter, nothing was impossible for this Brownie Troop.
With that being said, may Ray's passing remind each of us that life is too short but age is just a number.
God bless his entire family, our fellow Brownie, his granddaughter, Natalie, and his daughter, Amy, our Girl Scout Promise to Ray that he will forever be a treasured memory in our hearts...Love, Alanna, Avery, Elizabeth, Jadeyn, Megan, Sarah, Sierra, Colleen, Jennifer and Jasmine (Troop #70286).##imported-begin##Jennifer Sattler##imported-end##
