Raymond A. Smith's Obituary
Raymond Andrew Smith, 87 of Cottrellville Twp. passed away February 26, 2013. Raymond was born August 2, 1925 in Algonac Mi, to Andrew L. and Arleen A. (Vermeulen) Smith. Raymond served in World War 2 as a Tank Driver where he achieved the Rank of Sergeant. He married F. Virginia Nelson Dec. 14, 1950. He is survived by his daughter; Deborah J. Russell, his grandsons; Troy J. (Tanya M.) Russell, Randall J. (Samantha R.) Russell and Michael K. (Corrine I.) Russell, also honorary grandson; Michael “Butch” Tremonti. Six great- grandchildren Nikki R., Paige I., Hunter J., Kaylee R., Randall J. Jr., and Cooper D. all of Marine City, Mi. He is also survived by a brother; Marvin J. (Betty J.) Smith of Roscommon, Mi. Raymond is preceded in death by his wife, son; Dennis R., parents, and brother; Norris P.
Raymond was a lifelong resident of Cottrellville Twp. First working for Chris Craft then later for St. Clair County Road Commission from where he retired. After retirement Raymond maintained his 38 acres of wooded land on Lozon, also was caretaker of Smiths Cemetery, he enjoyed hunting, and cutting wood, and camping. His staple camouflaged hat and red Massy Ferguson tractor will truly be missed by all that knew him. A memorial will be held on Saturday March 2, from 3pm to 6pm. At Young Funeral Home, China Twp. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials are made in Raymond’s name to a foundation of their choice. www.youngcolonial.com
