Raymond C. Randall Jr.'s Obituary
Raymond C. Randall Jr. died peacefully on Monday, July 15, 2024, at the age of 79. He was born September 3, 1944 to the late Raymond Sr. and Helen Randall in Detroit, Michigan. Ray grew up on Detroit's east side, with three surviving siblings, Sue (Jerry) Berger, Chuck Randall and Carol Olson. He attended De La Salle High School and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Detroit, he prided himself on his billiards talent and sharp eye for competition in funding his education at U of D. During this time he also met his wife Cheri on a blind date. Ray and Cheri later married on November 24, 1965 and enjoyed 59 years of love, friendship and great adventure. Ray and Cheri moved to St. Clair Michigan in 1970, where he taught Math and Science in East China Schools for 36 years and resided until his death.
Ray was a plus 30-year horse industry veteran, he judged, announced, managed and photographed major horse shows around the globe for several breeds. In 2001, he and Cheri, were named on the list of the top 15 Arabian Breeders of North America. From this industry passion and talent, grew Ray Randall Photography, where he captured more than just great moments in equine history but hundreds of weddings and special family moments locally and around Michigan.
One of Ray's cherished roles in life was that of favorite and most amusing Uncle to list of nieces and nephews too long to include. Uncle Ray, Uncle Rover to some because of his loyal canine companions through the years, was a constant source of undying love and support, as well as pranks, magic tricks and science experiments, to include a notably failed one at Tahquamenon Falls related to natural water purification.
"Finally, no description of Ray's passions in life would be complete without recognizing his tenure as President of the Andy Griffth Show Fan Club, mentioning his love of bowling and disdain for chicken. Please note, chicken will not be served at the Celebration of Life." which will be held on July 27, 2024, 1:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. at 2500 St. Clair Hwy. East China Twp., Dress casually.
