Raymond Elliott's Obituary
Raymond Elliott , 87 years old of Marine City passed away on June 29, 2021
Ray was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 26, 1934 to Virgil and Alice Elliott. He was the youngest of seven siblings. Virgil and Alice raised their family in Berkley, Michigan and Ray attended Royal Oak High School.
After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for two years. Upon leaving the service he met his dedicated and vibrant wife Nancy Millier. They raised their four children – Peter, Daniel, David, and Linda in Troy, Michigan, where Ray was an active member of the community. He served as a leader of the Troy Chamber of Commerce, Boys and Girls Club and Troy Rotary.
Ray began a lifelong career selling insurance door to door. He built a successful insurance agency, Hartland Insurance Agency/Michigan Benefit Plans, with the help of his family and many dedicated employees.
Ray lived life to the fullest. Big band and jazz music brought great joy to his heart and soul. He loved to travel and immersed himself in the local communities. He built homes in Costa Rica, Iron Mountain and Marine City. Ray passed peacefully at his home in Marine City surrounded by his children.
All that knew Ray will remember him with love and gratitude. His whistle will be forever in our hearts.
Ray is survived by his children: Peter (Joni) Elliott, Daniel (Christine) Elliott, David Elliott, and Linda Pilot. His grandchildren: Trevor Elliott, Kristen (Davis) Miller, Alexander Elliott, Robert Elliott, Spencer Elliott, Andrew Elliott, Alyssa (Patrick) Digneit and Joshua Pilot.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
Memorial donations can be made to the Troy Boys and Girls Club.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Young Funeral Home, China Twp.
