Phyllis Jean Hart's Obituary
Phyllis Jean Hart, age 83, of St. Clair, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 30, 2023. She was born on October 12, 1939 to the late Clare and Hazel Mitchell. Phyllis was a graduate of St. Clair High School class of 1957. She married John Edward Hart on December 28, 1957. John preceded her in death in 2012. Phyllis worked as a secretary for East China School District for 17 years. She was a longtime member at the First Congregational Church, St. Clair.
In her spare time, Phyllis was an avid reader. She enjoyed going for walks in the woods with her dogs. Phyllis was a cub scout leader. She had a variety of musical talents which included playing the piano and accordion. Above all, Phyllis cherished the time she spent with her family. She will forever be remembered for her open heart, home, and arms for family, holidays, and anyone needing a place to stay. She leaves behind a legacy of generosity, kindness, and a woman who was described by many who loved her as a sweetheart.
She is survived by her children, LeeAnn (Ken) Zaremba, Terri Temple, Patricia (Randy) Sharrow, Connie (Lloyd) Himmel-Thomson, Kathleen (George) Mamak, Johnny Hart, Kelly (Thomas) Moak; sister, Sue Eames; brother-in-law; Norm Koehn; aunt, Joyce Shovan, as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many loved family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her grandson, Jeffrey Himmel; great grandson, Ryland Hildreth (Himmel); siblings, Fred Mitchell, Janet (Pete) Goodenough, Mary Ellen Koehn; in-laws, Jean (Gary) Rumbaugh.
A funeral service will be Thursday, May 4th at 7:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visiting hours will be from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
