Mrs. Pearle M. Allen's Obituary
Pearle M. Allen, age 100, of St. Clair, was born July 9, 1912 near Harrisburg, Ohio. Her parents were Elnathen Paul and Addie Jane Morehouse. Pearle graduated from Bidwell High School in 1930 and attended Rio Grande Normal School for several years before starting her teaching career in several one room schools in Southern Ohio.
Pearle married Hollie R. Allen, June 23, 1935, and after many travels, finally settled in Bradley, IL in 1942. She continued her education at Olivet Nazerene College and at the University of Illinois, receiving her Masters Degree in Library Science in 1954. Pearle was involved in many activities, such as Camp Fire Girls, Girl Scouts, square dancing, reading, painting, photography, writing short stories and traveling all over the U.S. and Europe. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Chuch, St. Clair. She retired from teaching in 1974 and she and Hollie moved to St. Clair to be with their son, Richard, and his family.
Pearle is survived by her son and daughter in law; Richard and Betty Allen, St. Clair, granddaughter Cheryl Lynn Westrick, Anchorage, AK, grandson Hunter Reid (Renee) Allen, Royal Oak, great grandchildren Justin Wastell, Lansing, Timothy Wastell, Portland, OR, Lindsay Kornik, Algonac, Katlyn Westrick, Anchorage, AK and Harrison R. Allen, Royal Oak, sister Mabel Mohler, Rio Grande, OH, sister-in-law Amy Morehouse, Akron, OH, brother and sister-in-law Charles and Evelyn Allen, Chillicothe, OH, many nieces and nephews and several step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hollie R. Allen on Oct. 8, 2006 and a brother E.N.P. Morehouse.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Visions AFC for their loving care over the past several years.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial visitation will be Friday August 17th, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Young Funeral Home, China Twp.
A graveside service will be conducted by Dr. Rev. Margie Crawford Friday August 17th at 12:30 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery, St. Clair.
