Paul and his grandson dancing at a birthday party. 💜
Paul was always so much fun at family gatherings!
Paul with Arthur, his 30-year-old favorite plant
How can I forget that Paul loved solitaire, could play three different kinds, and played nearly every day for 30 years?! An avid reader, he also was known to read three novels at one time.
Although we at our Joy Bible Study only knew Paul briefly, it was an honor to have met him and hear his thoughts.
Paul, your spirit will continue to shine through the love and joy you brought to others.
…In Michigan, I met Paul when he was president of our high school Chess Club, his class year was the year ahead of mine. After Paul graduated from Cooley High School, he was accepted at Eastern Michigan University, and I took over his high school chess club presidency.
...While in high school, Paul introduced me to his neighborhood friend Norm, and we’ve been married 56 years after finishing college, thanks to Paul’s friendship in our lives. Norm especially liked the photo on the tribute wall of Paul engaged in a chess game, saying “We used to play chess often during the summer when school was out.”
• You were a good friend, and I will always remember the joy you brought into my life of meeting my future husband.
• Your presence was a blessing during high school/college years, and you will be greatly missed. ~Love, Lin
Just heard the sad news (still processing) when this poem by Merrit Malloy, called EPITAPH moved into my heart:
“When I die Give what’s left of me away To children And old men that wait to die. And if you need to cry, Cry for your brother Walking the street beside you. And when you need me, Put your arms Around anyone And give them What you need to give to me. I want to leave you something, Something better Than words Or sounds. Look for me In the people I’ve known Or loved, And if you cannot give me away, At least let me live on in your eyes And not your mind. You can love me most By letting Hands touch hands, By letting bodies touch bodies, And by letting go Of children That need to be free. Love doesn’t die, People do. So, when all that’s left of me Is love, Give me away.”
