Paul F. Denean's Obituary
Paul F. Denean, age 68, of East China Twp., passed away unexpectedly, September 27, 2018. He was born February 11, 1950 in St. Clair to the late John and Monna Jean “Cookie” Denean. On March 12, 1971 Paul married Kathleen Bachler in Marine City.
Paul proudly served his country during the Vietnam War with the U.S. Marines from June of 1968 to June of 1972. He was stationed in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. Paul’s contributions to his community were numerous, he was active with the Boy Scouts for over 50 years and was a member of the Mackinaw Island Honor Troops. He is Past Grand Knight of K of C Council #856, Marine City and a 4th Degree Member of Richmond Assembly #480 where he also served on the Color Guard. Paul was also a member of the American Legion Charles Fulton Post #382, St. Clair and was a member of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard. He also was an active member of OLR Parish, Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marine City and the Perch Point Conservation Club.
Following his retirement after 33 years of service with the State of Michigan, Paul loved spending time woodworking, including carving ducks, birds and fish. He was avid bowler, member of the St. Clair Golf League and always looked forward to trips to the cabin up north.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 47 years, Kathleen Denean; son, Aaron (Tara) Denean; siblings, John Denean, Larry (Micki) Denean, Jeff Denean and Lori Westrick; in-laws, DeAnna Butler, John (Janice) Bachler and Mary Rose (fiancée Greg Garbacz) and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Monna Jean Denean; brothers in law, Tim Westrick, Tim Butler and nephew, Jeff Bachler.
Funeral Mass will be Tuesday October 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady on the River Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marine City. Visiting hours are Monday 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and Tuesday 10:00 to 11 :00 a.m. at church prior to mass. Rosary recital will be Monday evening at 7:00 p.m.
Interment will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veteran Honor Guard.
