Mr. Norman Arthur Kaufman's Obituary
Norman Arthur Kaufman, 86, of Marine City, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Friday, April 18, 2014 at Medi-Lodge of St. Clair. Norman was born July 5, 1927 in the village of Peters, Casco Township, MI to the late Andrew and Mabel (Fahs) Kaufman. He married Dorothy L. Simons on May 1, 1948. Norman was a farmer most of his life and he was also employed with the John A. Biewer Company from 1974 until 1989. His favorite pastimes were gardening, playing cards, dancing, bowling, and traveling. Norman was a life long member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Casco Twp., where he served on the Church Council for 18 years. Through the years he also served on the Peter’s School Board and the Casco Township Board of Review.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 65 years, Dorothy L. Kaufman: children David (Deborah) Kaufman, Linda (James) Cottrell, Dale (Lois) Kaufman; Grandchildren
Jenny (Aaron) Atkinson, Charissa (David) Smith, Andrew (Stephanie) Cottrell, Ryan Kaufman, Jonathan (Kristina) Cottrell, Benjamin (Whitney) Kaufman, Erin (Jeffery) Doetsch, and 12 Great Grandchildren.. Sisters Ruth (Daniel) Kane, Edna Guldenstein, Brother-in-laws Howard (Joyce) Simons, and Kenneth Simons. He was preceded in death by grandson Derek Kaufman, sister and brother-in laws Irene (Gilbert) Wahl, Carl Guldenstein, and Donald Simons. The family extends a special thank you to the staff and caregivers of Medi-Lodge of St. Clair. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Building Fund or to the Charity of the donors choice. Cremation has taken place. A Service in Celebration of Norman’s Life will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Sunday, May 18th, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Kristen Ulmanis officiating. Visitation at the church will be from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service.
