Norma May Brockschmidt's Obituary
The joyful soul of Norma May Brockschmidt (89) of East China, MI, left this earth on Saturday, December 14th. Norma was born June 13, 1930 in Detroit, MI to Edna and Wesley Winn. Shortly after, she moved to Battle Creek, MI with her family. While working as a switchboard operator, Norma married the love of her life, John Brockschmidt on August 23, 1952 in Grand Rapids, MI. After their nuptials, John and Norma moved to Mount Clemens, MI where they raised a beautiful family of three children and lived until retirement. After retirement, they split their time between their beloved family cottage at Wolf Lake in northern Michigan and their winter residence in Venice, Florida. In 2005 Norma and John moved back to Michigan to their house on the St. Clair River, where Norma enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the boat and freighter activity.
Norma was a loving and cheerful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was always ready with a witty one-liner for everyone she encountered. She loved spending time at Wolf Lake with her friends and family, playing her keyboard, singing, and painting. Norma had numerous memories, stories and laughs with her friends, especially her best friend of 80 years, Patsy Janes. Norma had a way of making everyone feel welcomed, loved and right at home.
