My most sincere condolences to the family of Colonel Fletcher. I didn't know Colonel Fletcher, but I am a fellow Marine and a fellow Vietnam Veteran who was born and raised in St. Clair. I now live in Wisconsin, and while I might have moved a year ago , I will always remain a proud Marine. The Colonel must have been one hell of a Marine. His numerous ribbons and medals have Gold Stars, which signifies a second award. So besides his two Purple Hearts, he also had two Legion of Merits [which shows him to be an outstanding leader and an exemplary officer]. His Bronze Star w/Combat V has a Gold Star, meaning he had two Bronze Stars- He must have been a very brave and courageous Marine, which also shows that while a young officer in Nam, he led from the front and through his own courage and commitment, he instilled the same in his men. When Marines have a leader of Colonel Fletcher's caliber, they will follow him to hell and back.. I would have been very proud to have served under Colonel Fletcher. Your long and faithful service is extremely commendable. Thankyou Colonel for your outstanding service to the Marine Corps and to your Country, Your dedication, devotion, and commitment to your Marines and your Corps is noteworthy. Now Sir, may you rest in peace as you take your place at the right hand of God as you take charge of the Marine detail guarding those streets of Heaven. My utmost sympathies to your family Sir.... Semper Fidelis Colonel Fletcher....
