Michael L. Scharnweber's Obituary
Michael L. Scharnweber, of East China, passed away in Henry Ford Hospital on Sunday February 7, 2016.
He was born February 27, 1941 to the late Arnold and Juanita Scharnweber. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edwin and Eleanor Sokolowski, and his niece, Stacey Gilbert.
Mike retired from General Motors Engineering Staff after 42 years of service. He had a passion for NASCAR racing and in his younger years snowmobiling and boating.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Dotty, of 53 years; children Kim Scharnweber, Steve (Cheryl) Scharnweber and Amy Distelrath; his three grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye, Kyle and Kara Scharnweber and his “bud” Nolan Distelrath; sisters-in-law, Pat Davis, Donna Gilbert and his brother-in-law, Lorne Gilbert; nephew Troy (Michelle) Davis and their children, Evan and Erin; nieces Tricia (Dean) Schweiger and their children, Brittany, Chelsea and Austin and Dana (Ryan) Steinhaus and their children, Drew, Luke, Lydia, Sarah, Katie, John and Matthew.
For our unexpected loss, words cannot express how deeply and sadly missed he will be by everyone who knew and loved him. Death is not the end but a continuation of life. Love has no end, memories will sustain us. Farewell my precious husband, until we meet again.
Visitation will be Friday, February 12, 2016 1:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and Saturday 12:15 to 1:00 p.m. at church prior to service. Funeral service will be Saturday February 13th at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Our Lady on the River Parish, Marine City. Interment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery, East China Twp.
