Michael (General) Hawes' Obituary
Michael (General) Hawes, age 74, of St. Clair, passed away unexpectedly on September 29, 2023. He was born on November 28, 1948 to the late Thomas and Mary Hawes. Mike honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, Mike went on to be a federal employee for 30 years. He married Chris Bramlett (Somerville) on March 2, 1991. Mike was an active member in the American Legion post 382, serving on their honor guard team for several years. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 12 in Port Huron. As well as a lifetime member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 284. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching football and hockey. He was always at his grandchildren’s sporting events.
He is survived by his wife, Chris Bramlett- Hawes; sons, Michael Hawes, Sean (Lisa) Hawes, Matthew Hawes; daughters, Tracy Kreutzer, Kimberly (Chris) Provost, Jennifer (Stelio) DeSnyder, Laura Bramlett, 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, niece, nephews, as well as several other family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Hawes.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 5th from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. A pass and review and military honors will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to American Legion Post 382 and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 12.
