Michael J. Forton's Obituary
Michael J. Forton, age 77, of Applegate, Michigan, died February 21, 2016. Mike was born November 2, 1938 in Detroit to Vincent and Eleanor Forton. He was preceded in death by his dear brother, Patrick (Gerard) Forton O.F.M. Cap.
Mike was a mechanic for over twenty five years. He retired out of Croswell Lexington Schools. After retirement he enjoyed collecting and working on antique cars and fire engines. He was also an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 38 years. Mike enjoyed going to shows, flea markets and musters. He hosted many picnics and participated in many parades from New Baltimore to Harbor Beach. He enjoyed memberships to the Model T. Ford Club of America, Model A Ford Restorers Club and The Society for Preservation and Appreciation of Antique Motor Fire Apparatus in America.
Mike is survived by a sister, Patricia (James) Adam, his children; Judeth (Robert) Shannon, Steven (Debbie) Forton and Susan Quandt and five grandchildren; Jessica Gilbert, Neill Hintze, Robbert Hintze, James Quandt and Andrew Quandt.
A memorial is planned for Friday February 26, 2016 at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Please join his family in celebrating his life. Mike will have the coffee on.
