Uncle Mike.....
A unique person with a warm smile, mischievous twinkle in his eyes, and that smart-ass Chartier grin.
What a storyteller ! I doubt that the validity of 75 % of them, but, always funny and entertaining.
When one walked around Goodells or Port Huron with Uncle Mike they would have thought he was the Mayor. Everyone seemed to know him and would greet him with a smile, hug, or a handshake.
He could be a handful and was a chronic complainer. I have not known anyone whom was banned from or thrown out of more restaurants or businesses than him. He minced no words, you knew where you stood with Uncle Mike. These are some of the things that made him so lovable.
We are thankful for the memories of the fishing trips with Dad and Uncle Mike. Eating Ali's long delayed gourmet meals from the days' Salmon catch, teasing one another, and continuous laughter. Ali teaching Uncle Mike swear words in Tunisian to try out on his friends.
I will treasure my last memory of my Uncle Mike the most. My last Walleye fishing trip with Dad and Uncle Mike where we got skunked. Yes skunked, almost unheard of for the Chartiers'. We laughed our butts off driving around Port Huron with both of them regaling me with wild tales of their youth.
I will not reveal your secret Walleye techniques or bait. Finally, it was me who snuck your Harley out of the barn and took it for the joyride of my life.
Uncle Mike we love you and will miss you. There will never be another person like you. We are glad that you will no longer have to suffer.
Our condolences to my cousins Diane, Michele, and Allan.
Love your niece,
