Michael Gordon "Byrd" Bennett's Obituary
Michael Gordon “Byrd” Bennett, age 64, passed away peacefully May 13, 2023. He was born March 11, 1959 in St. Clair to the late George “Bud” and Gladys Bennett. Byrd graduated from St. Clair High School in 1977. He then married the love of his life Gloria Jean Stier on October 14, 1977. He was a hard-working man and retired after 45 years as a machinist.
Byrd was a very kind and loving guy, he enjoyed being around people and would strike a conversation with anyone, anywhere. He liked watching sports especially NASCAR, The Detroit Tigers, and The Michigan Wolverines. Byrd was into old cars and going to old car shows and tinkering with things. Most of all Byrd loved the time he spent with his family and friends, especially his grandkids and going to monster truck shows with them.
Byrd is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gloria; children, Angela (Scott) Karaban, Bryan (Ryan) Bennett, Jennifer (Chris) Aliment; grandsons, Bryce, Brody, Easton; siblings, George “Bud” (Theresa) Bennett, Mark Bennett, Vicki Rome, Robert “Chip” (Dawn) Bennett, Cathy (Ed) Hammang, Rick Bennett, Scott Bennett, Corey Bennett and his grand dogs Birdie and Fenway.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Brad Bennett.
Cremation arrangements with Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and A Celebration of life will be held on Thursday May 18, 2023 at the St. Clair Lions Club from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with casual attire requested.
