Just learned of Mel's passing on the RDPFFA' s Memorial page. Value visiting with him a few years back while he was assigned to the Macomb County facility on Dunham Rd. Considered it a privilege to have been assigned to work with him during my rookie year at No 11 in 1968. Remember his unflappable and calm demeanor and low keyed sense of humor. A great police officer and mentor. A Good Man.

Mel was Lou's partner on the police department and best friend. I remember their annual fishing trips to Harbor Beach. We had fun times together in Detroit and staying at your lovely home in Columbus. I have a lot of wonderful memories. Love and prayers to you Priscilla and your family.

Thank you for being my "special person" all those years ago... You will forever hold a very special place in my heart. You're the reason I am who I am today.
As I write this, sitting next to my two dogs, I'm reminded that you were the first person to encourage my love for dogs. I'll always cherish those childhood memories of spending time with you and Brandy in the garage or watching you carefully place her ball in the crook of that old Maple tree in the backyard. Then I would watch in wonderment as she would retrieve it and bring it back to you everytime. I also miss hearing you tell the story of how one time you waved to a dog as you drove by only to quickly remember that they can't wave back (at least not in the same way we do). It's something I always think of now as I wave to each dog I pass by...
As much as I miss you here, I know you're in a better place. In the meantime, I'll continue to wave to our furry friends. Love you Gramps ❤️

A tractor or a golf cart can pull up to four sleds of grandkids in the snow
Always have a secret stash of snacks, recommend peppermints or peanuts
A front row seat for turkey carving means taste-testing privileges
$5 can provide a tasty snack of white castle sliders or hot n ready pizza, but nothing compares to Nonnie’s cooking
Sometimes you have to haggle to get the best price
Chevy makes the best pick-up trucks
And we all know what it means when it’s raining on a Sunday in Mid-May but sunny on a Sunday in Mid-June 😉
But most importantly my Grandpa taught me to love the Lord and to love your family above all else. He taught me the early bird gets the worm, to work hard, appreciate the outdoors, and have adventures.
