Mr. Melvin W. Fahs' Obituary
Melvin W. Fahs, age 86, of China Twp., passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by dear friends on July 23, 2015. Melvin was born July 27, 1928 on the family farm in China Twp. to the late William and Hazel Fahs.
Mel served with the U.S. Army from January 1952 to December 1953 in Germany. On September 19, 1987 he married Mary Daly in Marine City. She preceded him in death in 2014. He and Mary travelled extensively, visiting Scotland, England, Florida, Northern Michigan and many island vacations.
As a young boy Melvin worked on the family farm and later continued as a local area dairy farmer for many years. He also was known for his home grown squash that he would place on the wagon in front of his farm. Melvin was especially proud of his years as an excavator. Working 35 years for Andy DeSnyder and following retirement, another 10 year with TK & Co. Melvin was an active member of St. John’s UCC, Marine City and the Southeastern Michigan Conservation Club.
Mel cherished his friendships. He was always ready to assist a friend in need in whatever way possible. Sincere thanks to those close to Mel who assisted with his care during his final days.
He is survived by cousins; Wilbur Pfromm, Dorothy Stephenson, Wanetta DeMars and Dorothea Smith and many dear friends. Mel was preceded in death by his brother Albert Fahs.
Funeral services will be Monday July 27th at 11:00 a.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visiting hours are Sunday 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp.
