Maryruth Phillips' Obituary
Maryruth Phillips, age 85, of East China Twp., died August 2, 2014. She was born March 21, 1929 in Marine City to the late Walter Joseph Sr. and Mary Agnes Phillips. Maryruth was very interested in the political world and followed national and world news continuously. She was a staunch democrat, a strong supporter of labor rights and never missed an election.
Maryruth was a longtime employee of Chrysler and General Dynamics and was proud of her work with the military during her career.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, St. Clair and enjoyed helping out at many functions. She also worked with the women's fellowship group from St. Matthew's Church in Adair with her good friend Rhea Wolf in earlier years. She, her mother Mary and Rhea enjoyed traveling and staying in Northern Michigan for many years.
Maryruth is survived by her sister in law; Margaret Phillips, four nieces; Elizabeth Kirkendall, Martha Phillips, Peggy Konopka and Theresa Schwartz, five great nieces and nephews and one great great niece.
She was preceded in death by a brother; Walter Joseph Phillips Jr. and sister; Jessica.
Maryruth was a wonderful supporter of her family and was always there for us, and we already miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday August 8th at 12:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, East China Twp. Visiting hours are Friday 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the service.
