Mary Lou Zweng's Obituary
Mary Lou Zweng, age 83, of East China, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2024. She was born on May 24, 1940 to the late Beecher and Eloise Springborn. Mary Lou was a graduate from Holy Cross High School. She married Robert T. Zweng on May 4, 1963 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Robert preceded her in death on November 24, 2018. Following high school, Mary Lou worked as a dental assistant in Marine City until the birth of her daughters. She was a woman who loved her faith, she was a lifelong member ay Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marine City. At the church, was a member of the Altar Society as well as the lunch buddy program through Holy Cross Schools.
In her spare time, Mary Lou was an avid quilter, she enjoyed doing puzzles, baking, gardening, and stained glass. Following Roberts retirement, they enjoyed traveling the United States. From Alaskan cruises to train rides through national parks. Above all, she truly cherished the time she spent with her family. She never missed an event for her children or grandchildren. It didn’t matter if it was a sporting event or a choir concert, she was always in attendance, supporting them.
She is survived by her daughters; Michelle (Todd) Stone, Stephanie Zweng; grandchildren, Caleb and Kristen Stone; siblings, Tom (Maurine) Springborn; brother-in-law, Bill (Betty) Zweng, as well several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her brother, James (Ruth) Springborn; sister-in-law, Marilyn (Alvoy) Westrick; nephew Jimmy Springborn.
A funeral mass will be Wednesday, May 15th at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marine City. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, May 14th from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Marine City.
