Mary Lou Shackett's Obituary
Mary Lou Shackett, age 94, of Marine City, passed into Eternal Life April 12, 2024. She was born April 30, 1929 to the late Frank and Dora Merrill. Mary Lou married Lawrence “Ray” Shackett Sr. in June of 1947 and he preceded her in death on July 4, 2013.
Mary Lou had a passion for writing, especially poetry which she published several books. She also enjoyed art, was a rock collector and traveling the United States and Europe.
She is survived by her son, Larry (Mary) Shackett Jr.; grandsons, Fr. Bryan Shackett, Larry (Marcy) Shackett III; granddaughter, Anastasia (Daniel) Kantor, great granddaughter, Paige Shackett; great grandson, Jeremy Kantor; daughter in law Michelle (Frank Kulwicki) Shackett, along with several nieces and nephews.
Mary Lou is preceded in death by her sons, David Shackett, Timothy Shackett; daughter, Julie Shackett; brothers, Robert Merrill and William Merrill; sisters, Virginia Regan and Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Currier.
A funeral mass will be held Friday April 26, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady on the River Parish, Holy Cross with visiting at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. on Thursday April 25, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary and scripture service being recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to wishes of the family.
